Success Story — Kathy A.
Kathy’s health journey began when her friend, Patty Sibbach, said, “Kathy, you need to invest in your health.” It got Kathy thinking. She wasn’t investing in her health and realized that she needed to in order to enjoy her upcoming retirement. She began health coaching in January 2019 with Amber Peterson. She always joked that when summer hit, she would gain back all the weight that she set out to lose with her New Year’s resolution. Even her friends would joke with her about it.
The Summer of 2019 came and went and the weight kept coming off. She realized that it’s the small incremental habits that make all the world of a difference. She could still enjoy the holidays and weekend in moderation and jump back into “investing in her health.” She frequently mentions that in the past the weekend indulgences would run into Monday and the rest of the week resulting in months off, but with accountability and listening to her body’s needs, she no longer cycles through ups and downs.
To date, Kathy has lost 50 lbs and has kept it off for over three years. She now eats vegetables for breakfast and says, “That would have never happened!” but Amber reassured her that as she ate more nutrient dense foods, her taste buds would change. What else has changed for Kathy is that she now surrounds herself with people who prioritize health and that inspires her to maintain her weight.
She frequently says that the journey is not all about the weight, but more about how you feel. She no longer takes antacids and is off all prescription medication. She says she has more energy in her late fifties than she did in her 30’s. Her story is one of triumph and inspiration proving that anyone can invest in their health and reap the returns!
